A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

150 Years of Excellence in

Eugene School District 4J (1854 - 2004)

A sense of community is what schools create, in addition to the learning that goes on there.

The Eugene School District was established by the territorial government in 1854, making it older than the University of Oregon (1876) and even the state itself (1859).

Through good times and hard times, we in Eugene have enriched our schools. To celebrate this legacy of learning, photographs are being collected — here are some of them.
