Facilities Task Group - Business ItemsBill Hirsh reported that he had received some additional information today about time lines and the style format to be used for all task group reports. Copies of the report format information sheet were handed out. The Facilities Task Group will need to deliver its report to Evie Matthews on March 7. The Schools of the Future Committee will review the task group reports and compile their own recommendations. They will not be editing the work of the task groups. It was noted that since some of this group’s work is time sensitive as it relates to the next bond levy, it would be a good idea to flag those items. The reports should communicate essential information and be relatively brief with supporting documentation provided in appendices to the report. The issue of large school/small school will be dealt with by the Educational Program Task Group as well as this group. The Ed Program group is meeting tonight, also. Bill Hirsh, Bev Sept, and Tony Reyneke will leave a few minutes early to attend the ending of their meeting and share ideas. Pat Hansen shared an information sheet from the State of California regarding how to reduce exposure to volatile organic compounds from building materials and products. Dennis Urso reported that 6 of District 4J’s schools scored “exceptional” in the recent “report cards” for public schools. That’s 15% of 4J schools. Tony Reyneke reported that Sprague High School’s music department was designated best in the nation. (It’s one of the schools this group looked at for design ideas.) Kathy Ging brought in some flooring samples to show the committee. |

Task Group Work TimeDavid Brewer and Jeannie Webb put up large worksheets on which they had restructured the information that was compiled and presented to the Schools of the Future Committee. They kept the main headings, created appropriate subheadings and located or relocated items (interests) to headings and subheadings where they seemed to fit more logically. The remainder of the meeting was spent fine tuning this draft. The group only had time to complete the first section, Physical Structure & Design. It is attached as reworked by the group. Work on the other sections will continue at the next meeting. |

Next Meeting Agenda:Consensus was to select an editing subcommittee to word-smith the document after the February 21st meeting revisions have been made. The results of their editing are to be shared via email with the rest of the committee for its review and comments. The February 28th meeting will be to fine tune the document. The finished report is due in the hands of Evie Matthews on March 7. |
