4J Handheld Integration Project (4J HIP)

PROJECT UPDATE:

The 4J HIP project is now complete. Resources continue to be available on the NW HIP website.

Project Overview

During winter of 2003, Eugene School District 4J received a competitive grant to support the integration of technology in the core content areas of language arts and math. Stretching from April 2003 to June 2006, the 4J Handheld Computer Project made it possible for participating teachers and students to have year-long use of handheld computers. Teachers were trained to implement handheld teaching strategies and develop technology-rich lessons posted online and made available to teachers around the state.

NW Handheld Project Website

During the course of our project, we teamed up with South Lane School District and OETC to collaborate on the NW Handheld Integration Project. This website is a resource for all educators using handhelds in the classroom. Take a look and see what you think - send us your feedback.

Portions of this web site were developed in partnership with the Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (OETC), South Lane and Eugene School District Ed Tech participants, and Lane ESD staff. Ed Tech funds are federal grant dollars distributed through the Oregon Department of Education.
