Kindergarten at Harris
Early childhood is a time of life when children learn far better through direct interactive experiences.
They learn extraordinary amounts through play and exploration and we design our programs to fit them. Our kindergarten classrooms at Harris are consistently busy with activity. Children are involved in their work of exploring, talking, sharing, playing and learning.
Our curriculum is woven into the activities in which children select each day. We provide developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities that change continually over the course of the school year.
We introduce children to literature, writi
ng, mathematical concepts, science and art in a holistic setting, while providing a variety of activities that aim to address students' individual needs. Children are encouraged to be active participants in their learning by generating topics to explore in addition to the topics that are designed by the teaching staff.
Our kindergarten students have two classes per week with both our music specialist and our physical education specialist. Our students also participate in our school wide Project Fair and music performances.
