Hepatitis B vaccination
The Hepatitis B series consists of 3 shots over a
6-month period. The shots are given in the upper arm, and
have a very low incidence of side effects. In most cases,
a person will become immune to Hepatitis B after 3 shots.
Hepatitis B shots are now required for all school-age children.
For more information about the vaccine, check this
website: www.liverfoundation.org
Eugene School District offers free hepatitis B shots to employees if
it is determined that they are likely to incur occupational exposure to
blood or other body fluids. See "Does my job
put me at risk for occupational exposure?"and the
Exposure Control Plan pages 7-9 for more details.
Call your school nurse or the South Eugene High School Clinic (687-3209)
if you believe you may be eligible for these shots.
Your insurance company may also pay for these shots.
