Chronology of a Work-Related Injury
A day-by-day procedure recommendation for injury or accident and list
of how workers' compensation payments and regular paychecks are affected.
Time Loss: The number of hours
you are unable to work as a result of your injury. The District's
workers' comp. insurance carrier pays a percentage of your regular
wages or salary based on this time loss.
Light Duty Work: A job assignment your
physician agrees you can perform temporarily while recovering from
your injury. In the case of a permanent disability, you may be offered
a regular light-duty position approved by your physician.
Notice of Closure: A written communication
from the insurance carrier when your workers' comp. claim is closed.
The Notice will describe your disability, outline the amount of
time you were unable to work, and tell you the amount of your permanent
disability, if applicable.
Sick Leave: Absence from work as a
result of an illness or injury. Sick leave pay from the District
will be used to supplement time loss payments from the workers' comp.
insurance carrier.
Vacation Leave: (If Applicable)
Absence from work during which time an employee receives regular
wages or salary. Vacation pay from the District can be used to supplement
time loss payments from the workers' comp. insurance carrier.
