Outline View looks like this:

Step 2
Make a "structure" for taking notes (outline).

1.
Open Inspiration.
2.
Click the "Outline View" button in the toolbar (top left in window):
3.
You should see this: The words "Main Idea" are selected, so whatever you type will replace them.
4.
Type a good title for your notes.
5.
Choose or the 10-key Enter to add a 1:
6.

IMPORTANT NOTE!! It is easier to add topics (numbers) with the right-pinky "Enter" key and to save the unnumbered "notes" entries for the 10-key
Enter .

To "fix" Inspiration so this works, go to Application Properties. Look on the right for "Enter key" and click on the triangle to drag to the selection "New Topic." Just below that, look for "10-key Enter" and click on its triangle to drag it to "New Line." CLICK OK. This move will save you A LOT of time later!

After doing this, you will be able to use the right-pinky Enter to add topics, and the 10-key Enter to add "notes" that go with the topics.

7.
Type the name of the first topic.
8. Push Enter and type the second topic.
9.
In a similar fashion, add the rest of the structure, making this:
10.
SAVE the note-taking structure on a disk. If you're not sure how to do this, ask!!

Step 3
Get ready to use two programs at once: Inspiration and Netscape/Explorer (outline).

Follow these steps to learn how to "split the screen" so that you can see and use two programs at once. You will be reading information on the WWW, and taking notes on your Inspiration outline.

1.
Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer. Do this by going to the Start menu in the lower left, dragging up to Programs, and chosing Internet Explorer.
2.
In the upper right hand corner, to the right of the "minimize" button (which looks like a small minus sign or dash), you should see a button with two overlapping boxes. If you don't, click on the box button that is there, and look again. Click on the overlapping boxes button.
3.
This will enable you to see a size button which you can use to click and drag the window smaller. Use the blue strip along the top of the window to move it left/right.
4.
Using the taskbar along the bottom, click on Inspiration to activate it, and repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the two programs' windows can be seen, side by side:
5.
Get ready to take notes! Go on to Take Notes to see how.
