| Churchill is a respectful academic community
where teachers, students, and parents and colleagues work together. The
school provides a wonderful place where youth and experience come together
for the singular purpose of learning about life and living. In a beautiful
and safe campus setting, Churchill High School offers an education which
is the foundation upon which students may build their dreams. Churchill
has developed a rigorous and challenging course of study based on the belief
that intellectual and personal growth go hand in hand, that good schooling
sows the seeds of later wisdom and that no life is complete until it is
made useful to others. "Lancer Pride" is the term that the Churchill community
uses to describe this spirit of the school. Churchill's rich and varied
curriculum, traditional in structure, offers a sound foundation, imparts
the skills needed to acquire knowledge and express it, and fosters a spirit
of critical inquiry. At Churchill, both inside and outside the classrooms,
the school promotes productive work habits, a discerning respect for the
ideas of others, and the mastery of knowledge. In addition to its outstanding
academic program, Churchill offers an excellent competitive athletic program
and a wide range of activities and performance opportunities for students.
Churchill is a leader in integrating technology into the classroom and
has first rate computer facilities available for students. Churchill also
hosts a branch of the International High School, as well as the Rachel
Carson Center for Natural Resources, an optional program that integrates
science, social studies, and language arts using the study of watersheds
as a unifying theme. Students in this two-year program will work towards
a Certificate of Advanced Mastery in Natural Resource Systems. A priority
at Churchill is to provide students with ample opportunities to belong.
Everyone is encouraged to participate in student assemblies, career opportunities,
athletics, student leadership, arts, music and theater, student publications
and social events. |
