While the Schools of the Future Committee would develop the blueprint for steering the district into the 21st century, it would be assisted in that visioning process through review and critical feedback from a Council of Community Advisers (CCA). The Council of Community Advisers would be composed of prominent and distinguished members of the educational, business, political, government, and social services sectors of the community. They would serve as advisers to the Schools of the Future Committee to bring a broader and more diverse community-based perspective to the framework and recommendations developed by the Committee and Task Groups. The superintendent will develop a proposed list of possible membership on the Council of Community Advisers.
The CCA would meet three times. It would meet in focus group settings with a community-based facilitator.
The CCA’s role would be to:
- Participate with the Schools of the Future Committee in developing the preliminary vision statement and statement of principles;
- Review and consider the preliminary strategic priorities and desired outcomes, and provide feedback and suggestions to the Schools of the Future Committee and Task Groups;
- Review and react to the final report and help establish a context for its presentation to the broader community.
The Council of Community Advisers would help place the recommendations in perspective, determine their possible impacts and drawbacks, suggest or review a proposed implementation schedule, and identify any considerations that may have been overlooked.
