Duck Link

Duck Link is a University of Oregon/Eugene School District 4J partnership available to selected high school students who may enroll in college level courses at a reduced rate.

Who Can Participate?

First priority for the program will go to high school seniors and juniors.

All participants must have:

  • Exhausted all available course offerings in a particular subject area.
  • Outstanding academic performance in subject area
  • Demonstrated maturity and self-sufficiency
  • Recommendation of high school official
  • Permission of a parent or guardian

How Does the Program Work?

Students who are accepted into the Duck Link program:

  • Enroll in regular University of Oregon classes through the Community Edcuation Program (CEP).
  • Receive regular UO credit that becomes part of their UO academic record.
  • Are expected to fulfill the course requirements.
  • Are required to meet all UO registration and/or payment deadlines as specified in the Schedule of Classes for the term(s) they are enrolled.

What Types of Courses Can Students Take?

  • Because the intent of the Duck Link program is to offer students additional opportunities in subject areas where they have exceeded district offerings, students are expected to enroll in courses in related subject areas. For example, students who have successfully completed available courses in language would be expected to enroll in a language-related course at the UO.
  • Duck Link students who enroll in non-academic courses at the UO will be responsible for any and all expenses incurred.

How Much Does It Cost To Participate?

  • The UO pays the tuition (instruction fee) for all approved Duck Link students, up to a maximum of 8 credits per quarter.
  • Students or their parents are responsible for the cost of fees (beyond the intstruction fee) that all Community Education students pay.
  • Students with demonstrated financial need may have their fees paid for by the disctrict.
  • Students and/or their parents are responsible for the purchase of course books and materials, and transportation to and from the university.

How Do I Register for Classes?

  • Students interested in applying for the Duck Link program must obtain a Duck Link application from their high school's designated Duck Link contact person.
  • Your high school will send your completed application to the district office for approval. Your application will then be forwarded to the UO for processing.
  • The UO will send a confirmation letter to you, informing you of the time and date you are eligible to register. Included in this letter are your student ID and Personal Access Code (PAC) numbers. Both are needed to register for classes.
  • You may obtain a copy of the Schedule of Classes from the University Bookstore. Follow the directions in the schedule to register for classes using Duck Web (online registration).

Students who register for classes at the UO without prior Duck Link authorization will be responsible for any and all expenses incurred.
