The purpose of the Latino Family Outreach Liaison is to provide
a comprehensive link between home and school for Latino and Migrant
families in order to enhance parent involvement and communication.
This position will focus on schools with little or no existing
Spanish bilingual support for families. Typical tasks will include
but are not limited to: homevisits, attending meetings with families,
helping families access district and community resources, and
facilitating communication between school personnel and families.
In
addition to the above mentioned responsibilities, our Latino Family
Liaison will help start our Welcome Center/Centro de Bienvenida
for Latino families in our community. The Welcome Center/Centro
de Bienvenida is a joint project of 4J School District and Lane
Educational Service District’s Migrant Ed. Program. The
Center will house special events andprograms to support Spanish
speaking and migrant families in accessing schools and developing
skills that better prepare them to participate in the education
of their children. The Center will also provide information about
school district and community resources. The Center is located
in the old Westmorland School building at 1717 City View (at the
corner of18th and City View).
