The purpose of the Latino Family Outreach Liaison is to provide a comprehensive link between home and school for Latino and Migrant families in order to enhance parent involvement and communication. This position will focus on schools with little or no existing Spanish bilingual support for families. Typical tasks will include but are not limited to: homevisits, attending meetings with families, helping families access district and community resources, and facilitating communication between school personnel and families.

In addition to the above mentioned responsibilities, our Latino Family Liaison will help start our Welcome Center/Centro de Bienvenida for Latino families in our community. The Welcome Center/Centro de Bienvenida is a joint project of 4J School District and Lane Educational Service District’s Migrant Ed. Program. The Center will house special events andprograms to support Spanish speaking and migrant families in accessing schools and developing skills that better prepare them to participate in the education of their children. The Center will also provide information about school district and community resources. The Center is located in the old Westmorland School building at 1717 City View (at the corner of18th and City View).
