K-12 Learning Communities
They provide leadership for learning, building relationships,
technology, change, diversity, brain research, best instructional
practices, distributed leadership, and time management. The ultimate
goal is to improve student learning. North, South, Sheldon and
Churchill Regions are involved.
Critical Friends Training for Administrative Cohort Group
Administrative
Cohort members will be facilitating Critical Friends Groups in
nineteen schools, targeting ways to improve student work.
Administrative Subs
Substitutes
from the Administrative Cohort Group are available to work in
buildings when building principals are attending leadership activities.
Minority Recruitment
This is a
high priority for the school board, Wallace LEAD Grant and for
the 4J human resource department. The school board has authorized
early hires to facilitate more diversity.
LEAD Project Team
Each region
is represented by a secondary and elementary administrator to
help plan and coordinate Wallace funds and activities, other members
include representatives from ESS, University of Oregon and Equity
Coordinator.
Multicultural and Family Involvement
Terry Leary
will be working with the Wallace LEAD target schools.
Data Information
Dennis Urso,
District 4J and Jerry Tendal, University of Oregon, are working
on baseline data for the project.
Administrator in Residence
Three administrative
trainee positions were hired to increase the diversity potential
at the administrative level. The trainee positions are working
with the Wallace target schools with an emphasis on eliminating
the achievement gap.
Equity-Diversity Coordinator
District 4j
combined funds with the Wallace grant to hire a .8 Equity-diversity
Coordinator for the district. The Coordinator will be working
with the community and targeted schools with a focus on eliminating
the achievement gap.
